Beyond his iconic oil paintings and photographic collages, in more recent years, David Hockney has also become known as the world’s foremost iPad painter. Using the iPad drawings from his upcoming retrospective as a jumping off point, this five-week course will explore the possibilites of digital painting techniques through the use of online applications such as Procreate. iPad art - start something new Apple campaignI'm very proud to announce that I have been working with Apple on their Start Something New campaign to promote artistic creativity using their devices. There is a full gallery of work produced on the Apple website and at their stores world-wide. I was commissioned to paint a series of portraits using the new iPad Air 2 and my app of choice, Procreate.

The portraits are of interesting characters I met at the University of Chichester, where I've recently completed a Masters, but also features the now obligatory self portrait.

The paintings will be featured in hundreds of Apple Stores world-wide, but if you're in the UK, you can see them at the following locations:

  • Bullring (Birmingham)
  • Churchill Square (Brighton)
  • Drake Circus (Plymouth)
  • Grand Arcade (Cambridge)
  • High Cross (Leicester)
  • Meadow Hall (Sheffield)
  • Metrocenter (Gateshead)
  • Princes St (Edinburgh)
  • Regent St (London)
  • Covent Garden (London)
  • Southgate (Bath)
  • The Oracle (Reading)
  • Trafford Centre (Manchester)
