iPad art course at Tate Britain

I'm running a 5 week digital painting course at Tate Britain to celebrate the works of David Hockney.

Create your own digital masterpiece inspired by Hockney’s iPad drawings

Beyond his iconic oil paintings and photographic collages, in more recent years, David Hockney has also become known as the world’s foremost iPad painter. Using the iPad drawings from his upcoming retrospective as a jumping off point, this five-week course will explore the possibilites of digital painting techniques through the use of online applications such as Procreate. Taking inspiration from the David Hockney exhibition, participants are given the tools to create their own digital masterpieces for the Tate site.

I am currently participating in a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) with the University of Edinburgh, studying the artwork of Andy Warhol. With thousands of active participants worldwide, the five week course covers the themes of Celebrity, Sex, Death, Money and Time in Warhol's work. The above piece I created on my Surface Pro 2 with Adobe Photoshop to illustrate his working style, Ode to Andy, and was very much inspired by his work Marilyn Diptych (1962).
